To help their users with regards with their searches and queries on information with regards and in relation to their companies, Google created the Google Alerts system. It functions and updates the customer on whatever the latest news is with regards to their company or certain individuals related to the company. It keeps them updated on whatever the Internet is saying with regards to their company.
Now, Google is making some changes on the current service and replacing it with something that they hope would suffice and do better than the current Google Alerts. They have now changed the “Web” option in their filters and have made it into “Everything” by default which they claim will generate the same results and more.
Google Alerts is basically a tool that can be used by business owners to monitor any information regarding them and their company found in the World Wide Web. The service sends users emails and alerts on any topic of their choosing. The link to the source is also given in the email alerts.
There have been plenty of benefits cited about this service. Aside from updating the user with regards to the reputation of his company in the Internet, the information gathered can also be used for further reference with regards to the company’s future plans and strategies. It also gives business owners a hint of how well their marketing and advertising strategies are working with regards to their targeted customers.
But despite the many obvious benefits, there are also plenty of setbacks with regards to this Google service. With the increase in search results, the whole service has the tendency to relay useless information that the user will not be able to use. Google took note of these and did make changes on the service, like enabling users to modify the settings of the alerts they will be receiving among others.
These increases in the results and updates do not necessarily mean that the information will be better. Users may still miss valuable information that may be buried in between the other non-significant information. Google however, hopes that the changes they made will bring more good and return better results for their Google Alerts users.
