When you’re in the search advertising industry, you may want to reach customers operating outside your physical location. This may mean reaching another city, state or even country. Though there are many marketing strategies that can help you reach customers in those places, the problem is that you may not be able to see the locally targeted ads of those areas. This is where Google AdWords’ Ad Preview Tool comes in.
The Ad Preview Tool allows you to test your ads to see them in different geo-graphic locations. Additionally, you can also test your ads without affecting your quality score. Testing ads through Google.com without using an ad preview tool can actually make unnecessary impressions of your ads, thus your click through rate (CTR) drops. Always remember to use Google’s Ad Preview Tool when testing your ads.
If you go to the website for the preview tool, you’ll notice that there’s a link to a new version at the upper left corner. Google has updated and improved their ad preview feature to make the tool more streamlined. So, what’s new? If you go to the new version, you’ll notice that you no longer have to enter the Google domain. Instead, there’s a drop-down arrow that provides a list of all the Google domains. Also, you don’t have to enter coordinates.
The updated version also prompts you to sign in to your Google account to see the information. Other than that, the old and new versions are really the same… except that the new look’s greenish color looks cooler than the old one’s boring gray theme.
